In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most compassionate
assalamualaikum,
So there quite a few lectures on israk mikraj goin on in Brunei for the past few weeks to recap what we’ve forgotten….learned new things….heard different parts….but what i liked was the last one i sat for….it was different than the others as it talked about what it thought us and not what happened….it was a good one thing is i kind of forgot most of what was said but i took one thing out of the short lecture….and it hit me hard….at the end the lecturer said something in the lines of;
“You worship Allah not just because you want to get rewarded but in order for Him to be pleased with you…”
Masha-Allah….someway along this path i forgot that doing all this is not just to keep me in line, not just to earn Allah’s forgiveness, not just for Allah to give me rezk’……but just to please Allah…..and if Allah is pleased with you, He would surely give you everything you need and want…..which is the best for you in this dunya and hereafter…..So when doing something in the name of Allah….try to make niah so Allah will be pleased with you and love you and in hopes that you will be closer to Him…..
On another note…..making da’wah is kind of a tricky thing isnt it…..how do you get people to at least start praying?
I myself know that without you wanting to be close to Allah its nearly impossible to do….and i know that only Allah gives His taufik’ and Hidayah’ to His chosen slaves….i know Du’a is important but sometimes it really gets to you when you cant do anything to make someone realise the importance of prayers….they know they should pray but they dont do it….i was like this and thinking back….Ya-Allah, Syukuralhamdulillah Allah has planted something in me to start being close to Him….i know ive been slacking off but atleast He still gives me drive to keep worshipping Him….to me Allah has shown me something which is more valuable than anything He could ever give a slave….His taufik’ and hidayah’….He wills everything….i cant even wake up for Subh’ If He didnt will me to….i wouldnt even have the motivation to worship Him if He didnt will me to…..i wouldnt even be where i am now if it wasnt for His Mercy…i would still be doing all the useless things that id be doing until god knows when….and to see alot are still in the same habit makes you grateful even more…to see so many in loss…still in total darkness….still in ignorance….still….still…..
Allah….Allah….so how do you get people to start praying? just praying….i reckon if you can get someone to start praying their daily prayers, starting from the fajr’ prayers then it kind of becomes a domino effect on everything else….so how do you do this?
just telling them and reminding them to pray isnt enough…they still wont or dont want to do it…even if you say this and that…it goes in one ear and goes out the other….so how do you effectively persuade someone to at the very least start praying…one of the core fundementals of Islam….it was hard for me at first but if someone like me can do it i think the rest of us can do it to….i know that there is no compulsion in religion and that you cant force someone to do things but how can you bring them to start prostrating to Allah?
anyone out there with the answer to this, any tricks of the trade, du’as, any ayahs from the quran you can read and blow in the persons water or food or whatever….anything that would help….please do share…
Hadhrat Jaabir (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Salaat is the key to Jannat.”
(Darami).
Hadrhat Abdulah Ibn Qart (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The first act about which one will be questioned on the Day of Qiyammah will be Salaat. If Salaat is found to be proper, other acts will pass as proper. But, if Salaat is found there to be despoiled, then all other acts too will fail.”
(Tibrani, Ausat).
Hadhrat Hanzalah (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: “Whoever guards the five Salaat while believing that the Salaat is the Right of Allah, will enter Jannat.”
(Ahmad).
Hadhrat Bareedah (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The subject of pledge which exists between the people and us (the Ambiyaa) is Salaat. Thus, whoever neglects Salaat has become a kaafir (i.e. in terms of practical life, not in terms of Imaan).”
(Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Nisai, Ibn Majah).

Salaam akhi,
I personally know this, the road in Dakwah is never easy. If it was, then everyone else would be doing it as well, and then we won’t appreciate something because it comes easy. Yes, dakwah is quite tricky, but best believe that, with the good intentions, insya Allah, the result would be sweet victory…if not now, perhaps in the future, Allah knows best..
Alhamdulillah, all praise is due to Allah alone because only He has the power to guide whom He wills;
“And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise” (Surah Ibrahim, Ayat 4)
As for advising people to start praying, sometimes it comes back to our own self, our heart, our niat, because when it comes naturally (meaning, when Allah gives His Hidayah to whom he wills), then everything else just falls into place. We’ve been there, perhaps it took us years to realize it, but Alhamdulillah we’re finally ‘here’ where it feels right and we are at peace. Whatever the reason being for these changes, we thank Allah for giving His hidayah upon us, blessing us with His taufiq.
I suppose, u just keep on doing what u do, set a good example and at the same time, jangan berhenti berdoa, insya Allah, Allah Maha Pengasih lagi Maha Penyayang… mudahan terbuka hati durang untuk jatuh cinta dengan Allah dan rasulNya dan dengan Islam secara keseluruhannya, insya Allah.
Albeit, setting a good example is also not easy, sometimes we tend to fall back, but so long as we remember what our intentions are, solely to seek the pleasure of Allah, then insya Allah, may Allah guide whom He wills…
Firman Allah s.w.t.;
“Dan jika kamu mengikut sebahagian besar manusia (majoriti) di atas muka bumi ini nescaya kamu akan disesatkan dari jalan Allah…”
(Surah Al-An’am, Ayat 116)
Sabda Rasulullah s.a.w.;
“Islam itu bermula dengan keadaan dagang (asing) dan akan berakhir dalam keadaan dagang. Maka beruntunglah orang yang dagang, yang menghidupkan sunnahku ketika orang merosakkannya”
Salaam.
